Rotational system in Malaysia's monarchy will allow Sultan of Pahang to be the next head of the country.
There currently nine Sultan in Malaysia and one of them will be chosen for head of state, known as Yang di-Pertuan Agong, for the next five years. There is five year tenure for every State head but the current state head Sultan Mohammad V could not complete his 5 year tenure due to bad health.
Monarchy's importance is symbolic to the people of Malaysia. Malaysia population consist of ethnic Chinese, Indian and indigenous people.
Sultan Mohammad is the first ruler to step down. He was on medical leave from last two months.
British got the full control of Malaysia in 1874 but they did not abolish the monarchy system, they found if royal families given a place in the system it would help to control the state.
